Product range
Six families covering the mechanical envelopes and accuracy requirements found in LT panels and switchgear.
A summation current transformer (CT) is an auxiliary device that combines secondary currents from multiple main CTs or feeders into a single representative output signal
View productsSpace-saving ring CTs for crowded panels
Injection moulded nylon housings that stay dimensionally stable in tight enclosures, with inner diameters from 20 mm upwards.
View productsEpoxy encapsulated for demanding environments
Fully encapsulated units that resist moisture, dust and vibration, suited to switchgear and outdoor-adjacent installations.
View productsToroidal cores wound and taped to order
Tape wound toroids for retrofits and OEM assemblies where the CT must follow an existing mechanical envelope.

Current transformers selected for low ratio error and phase displacement across the working burden range.

Custom CT solutions
Most enquiries begin with a constraint rather than a part number — a busbar section, a relay burden, an aperture that has to fit. Each of these is set at manufacture.
Send a panel drawing, the primary current and the instrument being fed. You will get a specification and a firm lead time back.
Discuss a custom CTEpoxy encapsulated construction
Fully encapsulated units for switchgear duty, sealed against moisture and dust and stiff enough to take panel vibration.
Minimum envelope toroids
Wound and taped toroidal cores with flying leads, for assemblies where the transformer has to fit space that already exists.
Enclosed rectangular units
Rectangular enclosures with a busbar window and top-mounted terminals, straightforward to fix and to wire.
From 20 mm upwards
Apertures sized to the conductor rather than the other way round — round windows from 20 mm and rectangular windows to your busbar section.
Wound to the ratio you need
Non-standard turns ratios wound to order, including 1A secondaries for long cable runs between the CT and the instrument.
Rated for the actual load
Burden rated against the real connected load — the instrument plus the cable — so the accuracy class is met in the installation, not just on paper.
Metering and protection classes
Metering classes where the reading has to stand up to scrutiny, and protection classes with the accuracy limit factor matched to the relay.
Technical specifications
Figures below describe what can be built rather than a single product. Individual units are specified on their own page.
Working outside these ranges? The limits above are where standard tooling sits, not where the capability stops — send the requirement and it will be reviewed on its own terms.
Ask about a specialWhy choose us
A CT is a commodity until it has to fit a real panel and meet a real accuracy class. That is where the difference shows.
Cores selected for low ratio error and phase displacement across the working burden, so the reading holds up at part load as well as full load.
Send a panel drawing and a rating. Aperture, ratio, burden and accuracy class are set at manufacture rather than chosen from what happens to be in stock.
Nylon cased, resin cast and tape wound constructions produced in-house, which keeps lead times and quality under our own control.
Round apertures from 20 mm, rectangular busbar windows, 1A or 5A secondaries and burdens rated to the real connected load.
Standard ranges dispatch quickly and custom units are quoted with a firm lead time, so panel builds can be planned around them.
Tell us the relay or meter being fed and the cable run, and we will size the burden and accuracy class rather than leaving it to guesswork.
About the company
Saral Instruments Sales manufactures and supplies precision current transformers for metering, protection and monitoring.
Most current transformer requirements do not arrive as a catalogue part number. They arrive as a panel with a fixed amount of space, a busbar of a particular section, a relay or meter with a stated burden, and an accuracy class that has to be met. We build to that.
Work covers three constructions — injection moulded nylon cases, epoxy resin cast units and tape wound toroids — which between them cover most mechanical envelopes encountered in LT panels and switchgear. Within each construction, ratio, burden, accuracy class and aperture are set at manufacture rather than selected from stock.
Every unit is checked for ratio and polarity before it leaves, because a CT that is right in every respect except its polarity marking causes more trouble on site than one that is obviously wrong.

The more of the requirement you can give, the closer the first quotation will be. Nothing is compulsory beyond a way to reach you.
